Paper Wheat, the most
successful stage show in Saskatchewan's history, opened
at Sintaluta's Memorial Hall on 18 May 1977 and
subsequently played to packed houses across the province
and nation. A cooperatively conceived project, the
musical describes the struggles of early homesteaders in
Western Canada and their gradual realization that
isolation and economic helplessness could best be
overcome by cooperation in institutions such as the Wheat
Pool and the CCF.
