Scotty Cameron, a native of Saskatchewan, graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1955. From 1960 to 1968, he served in a number of senior positions in the Saskatchewan Government including the position of Deputy Minister of the Department of Industry and Commerce. From 1969 to 1975 he served as General Manager of the Independent Petroleum Association of Canada, the industry association representing Canadian independent petroleum and natural gas companies.Degree received: Doctor of Laws
Early in 1975, Mr. Cameron joined Pan-Alberta Gas Ltd. and was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in 1976. In May of 1994 he was appointed Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board. Scotty was then appointed Chairman of the Board of Novagas Clearinghouse Ltd. in May of 1995. During 1992-93, he was also Chairman of the Energy Council of Canada and continues to serve as a board member. Mr. Cameron has received several prestigious awards including the Community Service Award of Merit from the City of Calgary at The Calgary Awards in 1996; the Order of Canada in 1995; and Member of the Year of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce in 1990.
Mr. Cameronâ€™s involvement in community activities has been extensive including board responsibilities for many community, provincial and national organizations and corporations. He has served as Chair of the Calgary United Way Campaign, the Southern Alberta Easter Seal Campaign and the â€œLight Up a Childâ€™s Lifeâ€ Campaign. He is a Past President of the Calgary Petroleum Club.
Recently Scotty retired as Chairman of Calgary-based Novagas Clearinghouse Ltd. (formerly Pan-Alberta Gas) and is currently President and Chief Executive Officer in a company he established called Scotcam Enterprises Inc. He was also recently appointed to the Board of Directors of Proteus Environmental Inc.
Together with Ted Turner, Past Chancellor of the University, Scotty Co-chaired the highly successful University of Saskatchewan First & Best National Campaign. His influence in the business community throughout Canada and internationally, his leadership skills and personal commitment to the campaign were significant factors in the success of the Campaign.
In 1996 Mr. Cameron received the University of Saskatchewanâ€™s Alumni Award of Achievement.
