Dr. Menard Gertler, a native of Saskatoon, has lived for many years in New York, NY where he is currently a Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Medical College at Cornell University. A distinguished cardiologist, Dr. Gertler obtained his pre-medical education at the University of Saskatchewan (MED’40 and BA’40). He then received his M.D. in 1943 and M.Sc in 1949 from McGill University. Dr. Gertler completed his Fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Gertler believes in giving back to his alma maters as well as to medical education. At the University of Saskatchewan, Dr. Gertler established the Clara & Frank Gertler Lectureship in Medicine in honour of his parents. Its purpose is to support the College of Medicine in presenting an annual lecture to promote strategic directions of the College.
