The Diefenbaker Centre holds the papers, books and memorabilia collected by Diefenbaker during his lifetime. He was interested in all aspects of Canadian history and politics, particularly in the West. Diefenbaker retained a very large proportion of the correspondence and reference material which passed through his hands during an active political life spanning fifty years. As well as personal correspondence and papers, there is background and reference material assembled by Diefenbaker and his staff. A large collection of press clippings, supplemented by press clippings gathered by the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada provide an excellent reference resource.

Although most of the records are textual, the collection also contains photographs, and sound and video tape recordings. Records in this database are indexed by title, author, summary, date, medium and subject.

This material may be used in the Diefenbaker Centre by appointment only.

*** This database is in progress. Entries are being added each day. If you fail to find anything on your topic in this database or require additional information, please enquire at the Diefenbaker Archives. Hardcopy finding aids, which provide additional information, also are available.
