Student employees may perform any of the following duties:

• Shelving books
• Book/materials check-in and check-out
• General patron assistance
• Book pickups
• Photocopying
• Shelf maintenance
• Ensuring books on shelves are in proper order
• Minor mending of damaged materials
• Labelling of materials

The wage for student employees is $14.10 to $16.92 per hour.

Positions are part of the Canadian Union of Public Employees' (CUPE) Local 1975, therefore employees pay monthly union dues.

Vacation pay is provided on each paycheque.

There are no guaranteed hours of work. Student Library employees will not be permitted to work more than 7 hours per day or more than 65 hours per month. These maximums apply even if the employee is also working elsewhere on campus in either CUPE 1975 or FAPA positions.

Shift schedules will be posted at assigned locations at least one week in advance.

Formal training for student employees working during the Regular Session (September to April) will occur the last week of August and first week of September. This training is mandatory therefore please ensure that you are available. On-the-job training will also be provided.

There is no formal training for student employees working during the summer.
