Early English Books Online (EEBO)

DescriptionA full text collection of English printed works for the period 1473-1700, including 100,000 of the over 125,000 titles listed in the Pollard & Redgrave and Wing Short Title Catalogues, also known as STC I and STC II, as well as in the Thomason Tracts. Newly discovered titles continue to be added; materials from the Early English Books Tract Supplement collection are scheduled for inclusion in 2006. Titles are included in the Library's Catalogue.

The University of Saskatchewan Library is a member of the EEBO Text Creation Partnership [EEBO-TCP] coordinated by the Universities of Michigan and Oxford, an initiative creating searchable, full text versions of 25,000 EEBO titles accessible through both the EEBO and EEBO-TCP interfaces. Illustrations are are accessible as separate documents. The full text formats are :

  • Scanned images of original documents, which can be viewed online or downloaded in PDF format for printing, e-mail, or off-line viewing.
  • Keyword searchable text, created by the EEBO-TCP.
  • Full bibliographic record, including provenance of the filmed copy and microfilm collection reel number, downloadable to print, email or bibliographic management software.
