DescriptionA platform hosting a growing (over 8,000 in 01/09) multidisciplinary collection of electronic books acquired individually or as a collection from a range of publishers.
Access Note: To access added functionality, you must self-register (free) and sign-in. To default to display book covers in search results, make https://site.ebrary.com a trusted site in IE, under Tools / Internet Options / Security / Trusted Site.

Currently the library's ebrary collection includes:

  • Individually Selected Titles Collection -- Electronic book titles ordered individually via the library's primary book vendor: Blackwell.
  • Canadian Electronic Library: Publishers Collection -- A collection of over 8,000 ebooks in French and English published by over 50 Canadian publishers, including the major Canadian University presses, scholarly and trade publishers to 2008 with an extensive backfile. [About]
  • e-Duke Books Scholarly Collection -- A collection of over 1063 scholarly ebooks published by Duke University Press (DUP).

About QuickView & ebrary Reader Plug-in

  • QuickView permits instant document viewing but does not include printing, InfoTools, or some of the other advanced features of the ebrary Reader Plug-in. You may wish to use QuickView to easily find and scan the information you need, then use the ebrary Plug-in for more in-depth research.
  • QuickView does not require any downloads or installations.
  • If you click on the document title, chapter links, or cover image, the document will open in QuickView.
  • You may changing the default viewer from QuickView by setting the reader preference under My Settings. You must be signed in to access this function.
  • The ebrary Reader Plug-in provides added functionality, including printing, bookmarking, and note taking which can be accessed again and again via your bookshelf after you sign-in.

LicenseThe license for the Canadian Electronic Library: Publishers Collection was negotiated by the Canadian Research Knowledge Network for its Digital Content Infrastructure for the Humanities and Social Sciences.

There are no restrictions to the number of simultaneous users.

Access to ebrary is restricted to current students, faculty, and staff of the University of Saskatchewan, and to "walk-in" users of the University of Saskatchewan Library for their occasional use, for educational, research, and non-commercial personal use. It is accessible in the library, on campus, and remotely.

Systematic copying or downloading of electronic resource content, including the downloading of a full issue, is not permitted by Canadian and International Copyright law.
