Digital Elevation Data consists of an ordered array of ground elevations at regularly spaced intervals.  The CDED data is used in GIS for land-management applications by providing a powerful analytical tool for estimating values of elevation points, determining orientation and slope of each point, developing terrain models, and calculating the significance of the terrain on line-of-sight, an extremely useful tool in such practices as radar imaging and flood simulation. GeoBase also offers Administrative Boundaries, Geodetic Network, Geographical Names, Land Cover, National Hydro Network, National Road Network and Satellite Imagery.
  • GEOSCAN: Image files from Natural Resources Canada, including scanned topographic maps.

  • National Topographic Database: (NTDB) This collection is static now. User of the National Topographic Data Base (NTDB) should use CanVec maps in place of the old NTS maps. The National Topographic Data Base (NTDB) comprises digital vector data sets that cover the entire Canadian landmass. Geomatics Canada has digitized and structured thousands of topographic maps, creating a complete and uniform product that can be highly useful in a broad range of industries. The NTDB includes features such as watercourses, urban areas, railways, roads, vegetation, and relief.
  • Toporama : Toporama is a digital topographic reference product developed by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). Toporama is essentially based on the CanVec product, and covers the following themes: Buildings and Structures, Energy, Hydrography, Places of Interest, Relief and Landforms, Water-saturated Soils, Toponymy, Transportation, Vegetation, and Industrial and Commercial Areas.
