If the library material you require is not available online, you can request it directly from Off-Campus Library Services.
Be sure to allow plenty of time for staff to search, photocopy, and mail library materials to you. It usually takes about a week between the time we receive your request and the time you receive the material. Start your research early!
The loan period is generally five weeks from the signout date, allowing 3 weeks for use and a week at either end for delivery. Borrowers are allowed two renewals, providing that no other requests have been placed on the title.
It is important to note that all borrowers are guaranteed a loan period of 7 days, after which the material is subject to recall. Please be aware that fines will accumulate for overdue materiaI ($1.00/day/item) and that fines for failing to return recalled materials are quite hefty ($2.00/day/item). NOTE: The Library will be sending all communication (e.g. notices regarding holds, recalls, overdues, interlibrary loans etc.) to your official U of S email address. See the Email Policy for more information.
Interlibrary Loans (ILL) are generally three weeks.
Please note that materials from the Reference Collection, Reserve Room, and Special Collections are not available for loan. Theses and dissertations, as well as journals do not circulate. In the case of journals, we will send photocopies of the requested articles. There are no photocopying charges for off-campus students.
Your books will arrive with an enclosed, pre-printed return address label, plus one or more Bills of Lading if more than one book is shipped. The Bill of Lading is an extra prepaid return shipping label in the event that a book is recalled. Please return any unused Bills of Lading.
Should you lose a label, please contact us for another or return your books to the following address:
