The collection provides curriculum and research support for UBC First Nations programs: the Native Indian Teacher Education Program, First Nations Law Program, Ts"kel Graduate Program, the Health Care Professions and future programs. First Nations UBC students and other students studying First Nations are the library's primary clientele .The Brian Deer system of classification developed by Kahnawake Librarian for the National Indian Brotherhood is used by Xwi7xwa. Due to the increase in the scope of this collection and the conversion to the UBC catalogue, the library may convert to the Library of Congress classification system in the future.
