Author: Dempsey, Hugh Aylmer
Title: The Bull Elk Affair
Notes: Dempsey explains how the Bull Elk affair was a prelude to the Riel Resistance of 1885. Despite the belligerent attitude of the North-West Mounted Police to the Blackfoot, the government needed Crowfoot on their side, both for military and political reasons. The government did not want Crowfoot and his band to join the Cree and Métis resistance.
