Are you looking for a safe place to study late at night? Safe Study at the Murray Library begins on Sunday, September 20th.
During Safe Study, the ground floor of the Murray Library stays open after the rest of the library closes for student study space. You must show a valid student card to be allowed in, and members of the USSU Student Crew patrol the area to ensure everyone's safety. The Safe Study program is a partnership between the USSU and the Murray Library and is available to students of all colleges.
From Sunday to Thursday, the ground floor of the library stays open until 1 am. On Fridays and Saturdays, it stays open until midnight. Visit the Safe Study hours page for more specific details.
The 5th Annual Word on the Street Festival is this Sunday, September 20th, starting at 11 am. "The Word On The Street is a free public festival that celebrates the written word and champions literacy through an annual outdoor book and periodical fair." This free, family-friendly event includes exhibits, food, live readings, and panels on a variety of topics. The festival is held outdoors, in Civic Square around City Hall (across from the Frances Morrison Public Library). The University of Saskatchewan is a proud sponsor of this event.
This year's featured authors include Chef Michael Smith, Margaret Trudeau, W.P. Kinsella, Wab Kinew, Richard Van Camp, George Littlechild, and many more. Visit the Word on the Street website for a detailed schedule of events. We also have handouts with more information available in the Murray Library.
