Google Trends is a new tool that will display search volume trends over time for a particular keyword or set of keywords. You can break the responses down by language and region and some cities.
It's a bit early to compare Google Scholar and Microsoft's Live Academic but it's interesting to take a look at how a relatively new kid on the block is performing: Google Answers versus Yahoo Answers.
