Thanks to Everyone Who is Dropping By My Blog from MLC's program: Blogs, Wikis, IM and More ....
I noticed a cluster of pushpins on My Recent Visitors map from Michigan. My trip to Lansing MI (Where exactly?) was short but memorable ... what a friendly place to visit. Aaron Schmidt, Jessamyn West, Meredith Farkas and I were invited to talk about Blogs, Wikis, IM and more and a group of over 100 librarians showed up to take part.
Created by michiganlibraryconsortium.
I knew from scouting around online before my trip that there were quite a few bloggers in this neck of the woods and almost a third of the audience raised their hand when I asked who had done some blogging? I think everyone raised their hand when I asked if they read blogs! Wow I've never seen that. I think that MLC and others have shown some leadership in using blogs as a communication vehicle so blogs are just the way that things get done.
What was also delightful to see was the number of people, who were not bloggers, who posted comments. More than 20+ hands went up. This is an active engaged community.
I encouraged everyone who has never left a comment to just put a toe in the water and leave a comment on their favourite blog as a take away exercise. Take a small step from reader to more active participant. Encourage a blogger who might be wondering ... is anyone is reading / thinking / have an idea about something that was posted?
[If you were at the session or not, and have not dipped your toe in the water, feel free to leave a comment here ... anything that you took away from the session, something that surprised you, something that didn't ...]
You can see the summaries of the talks and photos on the MLC Library Rebooted blog and check out the photos on Flickr. Library Natter has also posted a summary.
