Jakob Nielsen has released his 10 Best Intranets for 2007. He highlights some of the design features that the 10 best had in common including:- More use of multimedia on the Intranet home page whether it's photo of the day or in-house video broadcasts from executives
- Greater emphasis on saving the time of the user by editorial control of the news on the home page and by writing specialized short news/highlights
- Social software is adopted where it's practical such as an acronym lingo wiki for corporate terms, weblogs focused on the biz, not the personal, use of comments and ratings to identify important content for other Intranet users,and the use of AJAX to add refinements and features
