Stop Cyberbulling (Item Status: Overdue)
Andy Carvin declared March 30, 2007 to be "Stop Cyberbulling Day". His announcement marks the end of a week when the blogosphere is reeling from the revelations made by Kathy Sierra, a well known blogger, programmer and speaker about the bullying and threats she has experienced.
Kathy's post was titled Death threats against bloggers are NOT "protected speech" (why I cancelled my ETech presentations).
To show support for an end to cyberbulling, different people have responded in different ways over the past week. Andrew started calling on people to talk about it today and keep on talking. He has also set up new social network: Stop Cyber Bullying on Ning at http://stopcyberbullying.ning.com/.
Robert Scoble, who has also been subjected to attacks, is showing support for Kathy by not blogging for a week.
Dorothea Salo has a thoughtful post about some ideas about what people can do about misogynistic bullying in geekland.
