Planning and Implementing Library 2.0 - CIL Session
David King shared some nuggets of wisdom for libraries planning and implementing Libray 2.0 projects at his session at Computers in Libraries conference.He recommended that you take time to answer a few questions:
1. Why ?
Determine your goals. Should support your library goals.
2. How?
Which staff and what training is needed? They need time.
Here's a few tips that he shared:
Repurpose your content
If you do a blog, RSS to your MySpace, bookmark entries to social bookmarking ...
Interacting with Customers
1) Contacts - circle of friends, message to friends is like a newsletter to everyone
2) Commenting - default should be to leave these on, moderation is quick and easy. Remember this is a conversation, so you need to review and respond quickly.
3) Creators - to what extent will allow them to add content - just comments, or creating wiki pages or YouTube videos
