National Digital Media Day and Saskatoon BarCamp - September 25, 2008

What is National Digital Media Day?

This is a day to raise the profile of the digital media industry and celebrate the dynamic work taking place in this sector.

In Canada, a massive cross-country event that will include gatherings (including BarCamps), lobbying, education and celebrations. In other countries, linked in celebrations and demo camps.

What might it look like?

Over a 24 hour period, we'd like to have demo and BarCamps (What's a BarCamp?) across Canada, exchanges, a national photo walk, streaming sessions, lobbying and partying, with hopefully some celebrity participation along the way.

Who's organizing it?

Everyone is. There's a National Digital Media Day Facebook group and a "starter" wiki that needs a lot of helping hands.

What's happening in Saskatoon?

Plans are underway for another BarCamp. (What's a BarCamp?) It's a fun, open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants. Check out some photos from BarCamp Saskatoon 2007. They also give away great T-shirts with this great logo.

Last year's event was great. This was the first one that I attended and it was wonderful to meet designers, developers, writers, programmers, teachers, students, educators, researchers, ... all interested in sharing and talking about technology and new media.

The program and ideas for the day are up to us -- the participants.

How can you find out more?
