Citation / biographical information:
Mr. Hart is president and chief executive officer of the Bank of Montreal, and deputy chairman of the Bank of London and Montreal Limited, Nassau, Bahamas. Born and educated in Toronto,he began his banking career there in 1931. During the Second World War he served with distinction in the army, joining as a lieutenant and achieving the rank of major. He is holder of the the MBE.
On his return from overseas, Mr. Hart served with the Bank of Alberta and New York before being assigned to head office. He is a director of several companies and community organizations and a member of many service, welfare and business organizations. Among these are the Investment Committee of the Canada Council, the Canadian Council of the International Chamber of Commerce, and the Quebec Division of the Health League of Canada.
