Father Lesveque was on staff of Laval University for over 20 years and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, a faculty he organized, for 12 of them. He was a member of the Massey Commission and has been vice-chairman of the Canada Council since its formation in 1957. Father Levesque has been particularly prominent in Quebec and has done much to foster good relations between French and English in Canada. He has a number of honorary degrees and foreign decorations. He is known as an eloquent speaker, and is the author of many publications in the field of the social sciences.
