Dallas Howe is an entrepreneur and business executive who has spent a lifetime building a strong and diverse Saskatchewan economy. Mr. Howe is Chair of the Board of Directors of Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan; Chief Executive Officer and owner of DSTC, a technology/real estate investment company; Chair of the Board of Advanced Data Systems; an advisor to BDM Information Systems and on the Board of the C.D. Howe Institute.

Mr. Howe pioneered, developed and commercialized applications software in the computer industry as founder and CEO of several technology companies including BDM Information Systems and Advanced Data Systems, both with Saskatoon head offices. Advanced Data Systems developed business software for over 30 years and is a leader in Aboriginal information solutions in Canada. BDM has operated for four decades as a leading provider of healthcare software to major hospitals in the United States and Canada. After selling BDM to General Electric, Mr. Howe and management reacquired the company in 2012.

Mr. Howe actively participated, as a director, in the 1980s transformation of PotashCorp from a Crown Corporation to a major publicly-traded entity and the world’s largest fertilizer enterprise. He was re-appointed as a director in 1991 and has served as Chair since 2003.

In 2013, Mr. Howe became the first Board Chair of the Global Food Security Institute, a public-private partnership of the Government of Saskatchewan, University of Saskatchewan and PotashCorp.

Mr. Howe served as a director of Viterra, formerly Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, from 2005 to 2012. Mr. Howe chaired the University of Saskatchewan’s Board of Governors and served on the Board of American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists Foundation. He served on the Board of Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation and was a founding director of Saskatoon Regional Economic Authority.

Born in Regina, Mr. Howe attended Luther College. He has an Honours BA and Master degree in Mathematics from the University of Saskatchewan. He pursued graduate studies at the University of Toronto in Computer Science. His early career was with Hospital Systems Study Group at the U of S. Mr. Howe is the first recipient of a KPMG Entrepreneur of the Year award.

In 2009, Mr. Howe was made an ICD Fellow by the Institute of Corporate Directors. He is Honorary Lieutenant Colonel, North Saskatchewan Regiment.

Mr. Howe and his family operate a fourth-generation Saskatchewan farm that has been in their family continuously for over 130 years. He and his wife, Sandy, divide their time between Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Mexico. They enjoy spending time with their son, Chandler's, and daughter, Tricia's, families and their six grandchildren.
