Get a library card
- USask library cards are free for external borrowers.
- You must live in Saskatchewan.
- You must be 16 years of age or older.
- To get a card you must come in person to the service desk at any USask library location and provide two pieces of identification, one of which must have your current address.
- Your library card is valid for one year from the date of issue. Contact Ask Us to renew your card.
- If you lose your library card, let us know right away. Contact Ask Us about replacing a lost or damaged library card.
- Library notices are emailed to the address in your library account. It is your responsibility to keep your contact information up to date. If we detect an incorrect address, your library account will be frozen until it is updated. If you need help, Ask Us.
Borrowing privileges
External borrowers are able to:
- Borrow up to 50 regular loan items for 30 days.
- Our standard loan periods and fines apply to external borrowers.
- Interlibrary loan (ILL) and scan request services are available for a fee.
Check your Library Account for due dates, renewals, fines, holds, and your personal access to ILL, extended loans and electronic resources.
Electronic resources
Due to licensing agreements, the University Library is not able to provide external borrowers with off-campus access to most subscribed electronic databases and resources. However, many electronic resources are accessible in the library for all walk-in patrons. If you are on campus, come visit us at any of our library locations and access these resources on one of the library computers. Find out more about computers in the library.
