Today dawned misty and cool. By mid-morning raindrops were forming on the pool. I adore the rain, and I especially love its effect on the surface of the water. It crafts the most intricate designs with its invisible compass, etching its watery arcs that spread, intersect, and then vanish.

The ripple effect is a powerful metaphor for my life. It describes how I can start at a single point, craft an intention into being, and watch my artwork spread and mingle with other influences. The result is a harmonic of interactive creativity.

Art is the idea made manifest. Craft is the method of employment. Although a craftsperson is often thought to be inferior to an artist, nothing could be further from the truth. Great art is always the result of superb crafting, even though the technical details may not be evident at first glance.
