I sense a lightness in the air this morning as I arrive at the pool. The first of the snapdragons are in bloom, painting the surface of the water with a veneer of brightness and mirth.

When I was a small boy, each year about this time I would ride my tricycle to the park to inspect the newly planted flower beds - such dazzling displays of orchestrated beauty! I still remember how my heart would quicken, and I was so enthralled with the experience that all my scrapes and bruises would be totally forgotten.

Youthfulness is the presence of sheer delight, unbridled energy, and totally living in the "now". Young children are masters of this type of freedom as they are so easily absorbed in the moment. Fortunately we can have the experience at any age. For me it is a matter of attitude and total involvement in whatever I am doing.
