June 8 - CHEER

the eighteenth day of Enchantment

The reflections in the pool are immersed in cheer. Or is it that I bring the cheer to my own reflections and interpretations? Perhaps there is no meaning to anything in the world except what we make of it.

The early fur traders with the Hudson's Bay Company had to endure long harsh winters in the Canadian north. In order to keep up their morale they created their own fraternity called the Order of Good Cheer. They took turns hosting parties for each other that included whatever game meat they could find, home made brew, music and dancing the jig. Much time and creativity went into the preparations. Without inventing their own form of revelry, life indeed would have been grim.

The greatest history lesson for me here is that they didn't wait for a reason to have a good time; they created the reason. Admittedly it was relatively easy to bring cheer into my life this morning. The point, however, is that I did.

How easy is it for you to introduce happiness into your day? Becoming an effective cheerleader is an art worthy of frequent practice.
