I love it when the wind produces a texture that transforms the surface of the pool into a pointellist masterpiece. How often in the past did I pass by these creations without even turning my head? I know that the immense variety of images I have seen in the pool has taught me to be more receptive to the beauty that surrounds me, both here and elsewhere.

Receptiveness is the key to so many of my interactions with the world. When I am open, and alert, the universe showers me with gifts - no charge, no tax, no postage and handling, and nothing expected in return, except, perhaps, the willingness to receive.

The benefits were always there; I just wasn't paying attention, or open enough to respond. I have recognized that at these times my responses are often habitual reactions with hidden agendas behind them preventing me from letting in love, joy and beauty. Because these responses are automatic, it takes a new awareness of my blocks -- or perhaps someone else pointing them out - for me to see things differently. Once recognized and cleared, however, I am free to choose what I attend to.
