The University Library Master Plan is guiding the overall vision for library spaces across campus, but while we plan for these large-scale projects the library is not remaining static.
Murray Library, 6th Floor
The last bit of renovation on the sixth floor of the Murray Library was completed in late 2017. A new paint colour was added to the wall near where the quiet study powered tables were installed last year. If you haven't yet had the chance to visit this new area, make the time to do so! With new carpet, tables, chairs, and now paint, the sixth floor is a great place to spend some time studying.

Murray Library, Ground Floor
In late November, some small renovations took place on the ground floor of the Murray Library. Countertops were added to the west side of the ground floor study area along the windows. These counters have built-in docking stations, so that you can plug in your laptops and other devices. Tall bar chairs are available, or, you can stand and stretch your legs while you study and take in the views of the campus beyond.
This renovation created 10 new study spaces with electrical outlets in the Murray Library.
Murray Library, North Wing
A new quiet study space has been created on the 3rd floor North Wing of the Murray Library over the summer. An old group study room and some unused shelving space were demolished and remodelled to create a large seating area for students. There is now much more natural light, the walls have been repainted, and new carpet has been laid. There are 27 new seating spaces in this quiet area, which include long study tables and 7 individual comfy pods. Each space has its own outlet, so that students can use their powered devices. The pods even have USB plugins.
Engineering Library – interim stage
Funding from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) helped the library meet skyrocketing demands for student study space through an interim refresh of the Engineering Library. This interim stage for the Engineering Library means that we can provide much-needed space for students now, while we wait for the transition to the new space envisioned in the Master Plan.
At this time, the majority of the engineering collection is temporarily in storage on the lower level of the Leslie and Irene Dubé Health Sciences Library until it can be moved into its anticipated future home in the Science Library. Any item housed in storage can be requested through the library catalogue and will be available for pick-up at the Engineering Library within 1-2 business days.
Learning hub, Murray Library
A new learning hub helps connect all of the services located on the first floor of the Murray Library. This hub includes a central ‘ask us’ point for library services, the IT help desk, and special learning pods for focused consultation and learning sessions.
Service point, Law Library
Changes in collections and service delivery have meant that the employees in the Law Library no longer require the extensive work area they once had. Construction of a smaller work area and service point has created additional public space in the library and helped to highlight the library’s award-winning architectural features. The flooring in the library was also replaced over the summer semester.
