Do you wish you could be anywhere but here this exam season? Well, you may be spending all your time in the library, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy yourself. Throughout the month of December, the University Library will be providing you with multiple opportunities to Take a Break!
During final exams, all seven branches of the University Library will be providing free snacks or refreshments to students who are studying in the libraries. These snacks have been generously donated by the U of S Alumni Association. You may even see some Alumni volunteers wandering through certain libraries, handing out treats.
Cookie Decorating Day!
In the afternoon of Tuesday, December 15th, visit one of our participating libraries to decorate and eat a free sugar cookie, courtesy of the University Library and the Alumni Association. Cookies will be available (while supplies last) at the following libraries: Education & Music, Engineering, Health Sciences, and Murray.
Take a Break from Studying
To give our students a break from studying, several libraries will also be providing the opportunity to take part in fun activities, starting on December 9th and continuing until the end of exams. Keep reading to find out what will be happening at each location!
Education & Music Library
Tired of studying? Take a break with Us! We have Play-Doh and LEGO for you to have fun with here at the Engineering Library. Take a moment to relax and have fun! Alumni volunteers will be at the Engineering Library over the noon hour December 14th to 18th to make popcorn and hand out snacks.
Leslie and Irene Dubé Health Sciences Library
Has studying got you sapped? Come take a break with us in Room 1430 of the Health Sciences Library. We have drawing supplies, puzzles, games and refreshments. Take some time to relax and recharge. Alumni volunteers will be here in the afternoons from December 14th to 18th to make popcorn and hand out snacks.
The Murray Library will once again be offering its famous Take a Break With Us room during final exams, Come to Room 102 (across from the stairs on the 1st floor), where winter and holiday crafts, Play-Doh, LEGO, chess, cards, and music await you. Once you're done taking a break, you can head to the upper floors or the North Wing for quiet study, or stay in the Learning Commons areas for collaborative work. Alumni volunteers will be visiting the Murray building weekday afternoons from the 9th to the 18th to make popcorn and hand out snacks.
Also, our furry dog friends from the St. Johns Ambulance Therapy Dog program will be visiting room 102 from noon to 2 pm on both December 8th and 10th.
Take a break from your studies and come relax at our puzzle and Play-Doh station. Located at the left-hand side of the Science Library entranceway, our puzzle and Play-Doh station will be available from December 9th to the 23rd. Have fun! And remember, since the Science Library is a quiet, food-free library, we won't have popcorn or snacks available, but we will have juice boxes for you to enjoy.
