Tell Us: How Do I Search For Theses?

I have trouble finding theses & dissertations on the library website. Most of my questions are about finding non- U of S theses.

Your Question

“I have trouble finding theses & dissertations on the library website. Most of my questions are about finding non- U of S theses. Is there an explanation somewhere on how to find them? Would you consider linking to it on the Find it, Get it page?”

Our Response

Finding theses can definitely be tricky. You have to search in different ways, depending on whether the thesis is from the U of S or from another university. Newer theses are usually online, while older ones may only be in print (although we are continually digitizing older theses!).

The library has created a guide for Finding Theses and Dissertations -- http://libguides.usask.ca/FindingTheses. Links to this guide are located:

  • on the library’s homepage, under Quick Links for Graduate Students and Quick Links for Faculty and Staff;
  • through the “How Do I” guide;
  • and now added onto the “Find It – Get It” page.
