Our Stories: First Peoples in Canada

This interactive Open Education Resource (OER) was developed on the treaty lands and the territory of the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation by a team of Indigenous and non-Indigenous authors at Centennial College in Toronto, Ontario. Using a format that includes text, media and interactive tools, Our Stories: First Peoples in Canada works to create a decolonizing framework through which readers are invited to engage with histories, cultures, and knowledges.

This text responds to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action and aims to provide coverage of contemporary and historic events and issues using a balance of urban and remote perspectives, lived experience, and accounts of resistance and resurgence. Our Stories: First Peoples in Canada is available with a CC BY-NC-ND Attribution-Non Commercial-NoDervs license in PDF, ePub, and iBooks formats, and will be updated annually so that it can remain a contemporary and relevant resource for moving beyond a colonial lens in education.
