Empty bookshelves on the fifth floor of the Murray Library

Fifth floor of Murray Library closed for renovations

Library books from the fifth floor have been moved to temporary storage and are available to borrow by placing a hold

While the Murray Library reopens on August 3, the fifth floor will remain closed as it gets transformed into the future home of the University Archives and Special Collections (UASC).

Throughout the pandemic, while most of campus was shut down, library employees have been working hard behind the scenes to move all of the books out of the fifth floor. These books have been transported to their temporary home in the Library Annex storage facility.

During renovations, these items will not be browsable, but they will still be available to borrow.

To borrow a book from storage, you can simply place a hold on the item that you want through the library catalogue. You will be notified via email when your item is ready to be picked up. You may choose either the Murray Library or the Leslie and Irene Dubé Health Sciences Library as pick-up locations; as our other spaces across campus reopen, they will become available pick-up choices as well.

If you have any questions about placing a hold on a book, please reach out to our library staff members on Ask Us chat or in person at the Research Help Desk on the first floor of the Murray Library.
