Orange Shirt Day Display

The Education and Music Library has created a display to highlight books in our collection about Canada's residential school system for younger audiences.

In the lead-up to Orange Shirt Day and the newly created National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (Thursday, Sept. 30), the Education and Music Library has created a display to highlight books in our collection about Canada's residential school system for younger audiences.

On one side of the display, you'll see resources created by the Manitoba Teachers' Society. You can read them online here under the heading Download Resources.

In the center you'll also find Phyllis (Jack) Webstad's story, in her own words. She is both a survivor of the residential school system and Executive Director of the Orange Shirt Society.

On the other side of the display, you'll find books from the Education and Music Library's collection. For more resources to teach children and youth about Canada's residential school system, there is also a teacher's resource guide available.

There's also a little note pad where you can design your own orange shirt or leave some words of kindness!
