Collecting orange ribbons for Truth and Reconciliation

Monday, September 26, at 4 pm: Gathering in the Gordon Oakes Red Bear Centre to collect orange ribbons

Orange ribbons for Truth and Reconciliation

Last year, through an initiative sponsored by the Mistatimōk committee, we tied orange ribbons around campus. As we tied these ribbons, we were asked to make a commitment to uphold one or more of the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action.

Collecting the ribbons

This Monday (Sept. 26), we invite you to gather at the Gordon Oakes Red Bear Centre at 4 pm to complete our circle of commemoration. Elders will lead us as we retrieve the ribbons and hold them reunited for safekeeping in a basket at The Gordon Oakes Red Bear Student Centre. Tobacco will be laid down with respect and honour.

Can't attend?

If you are unable to attend, please retrieve ribbons with care and bring them to the Gordon Oakes Red Bear Student Centre. Tools and additional information are also available there.
