Library services during a postal strike

During a postal strike, regular services for library clients on campus and in Saskatoon will not be affected. There may be some temporary disruption or minor delays to the University Library's Interlibrary Loan and Distance and Distributed Library Services units.

Canada Post has received strike notices from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW). The notices indicate that CUPW will be in a legal position to begin strike activity on November 15 at 12:01 a.m. ET. Updates on strike dates and locations can be found on the Canada Post website at www.canadapost.ca/update.

During a postal strike, regular services for library clients on campus and in Saskatoon will not be affected. There may be some temporary disruption or minor delays to the University Library's Interlibrary Loan(ILL) and Distance and Distributed Library Services (DDLS) units.

If you have any questions or concerns about a specific ILL or DDLS request, please contact our Interlibrary Loans staff.

Update November 15:

Canada Post has announced that their operations are shutting down for the duration of the CUPW national strike. Mail and parcels will not be processed or delivered, and no new items will be accepted until the national disruption is over.

Expect disruptions and delays to ILL and DDLS services at the University Library for the duration of the strike. If you've recently submitted a request for an ILL or DDLS item to be shipped to you, library staff will be in contact with alternate options.

DDLS users do not have to ship back the items that they have currently checked out until after the strike is over. We will backdate returned items once we received them, and waive any fines related to shipping delays.
