Francis Jeffrey Dickens, the son of Charles Dickens, was an Inspector in the North West Mounted Police at Fort Pitt. His diary is very brief and only covers the period from 4 March to 15 April 1885. Reference is made to weather conditions, trade, religious services, the uprising among the Indians, and the attack on Fort Pitt.
