Notes: Jefferson was a British immigrant who arrived in Canada in 1876. In 1885, he was a farming instructor on the Indian reserves. He witnessed many of the events of the Resistance and was also a prisoner of Poundmaker. Upon his release, he was summoned to Regina as a witness at the trials. His pamphlet is not only a narration of his experiences, but also a history of Cree life and their difficulties which led to the Resistance of 1885.
