Notes: Douthwaite has two brief chapters on the Rebellion. The first contains an analysis of the Métis grievances and their Bill of Rights. Despite his bias in favour of the police, Douthwaite criticizes the government's failure to resolve the Métis problems prior to the Rebellion. The second is a discussion of the NWMP's limited role in the military campaigns such as the battles of Cut Knife, Duck Lake and Batoche to suppress Riel and the Métis.
