As the Research Data Management (RDM) Coordinator for the University, Colleen is the institutional lead responsible for: leading the development and implementation of the RDM service model, including the formation and coordination of a cohesive, researcher-centric RDM support team; serving as a champion for our RDM strategy and coordination of the multi-year implementation, in collaboration with the service centres across campus; reviewing and evolving the RDM strategy to ensure they continue to meet the RDM needs of researchers and the Tri-Agency Policy; identifying where additional RDM investments in capital and staffing would best serve the USask research community; and developing metrics to measure the success of RDM services over time, and leading the continuous improvement of these services.
Colleen holds a BA (Hons.) in Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan with a research focus on the hemispheric lateralization of the human brain. Colleen also completed the Research Administration Certificate Program at Mohawk College (sponsored by the Canadian Association of Research Administrators – CARA).
Prior to her current role, Colleen held a number of other positions at the University of Saskatchewan: Human Ethics Administrator, providing support for both the Biomedical and Behavioural REBs; Research Executive Officer, managing a research team conducting both clinical and basic research; and most recently as the Research Planning & Facilitation Officer for the College of Arts & Science, supporting approximately 300 researchers in developing research grant applications for CIHR, NSERC, and SSHRC.
Colleen volunteers for the Human Research Standards Organization (HRSO), serving as a Technical Committee member developing National Standards of Canada (NSCs), including CAN/HRSO-200.01-2021 “Research Ethics and Review Oversight”, CAN/HRSO-300.01-2022 “Conduct of Human Research NSC”, and CAN/HRSO-100.02-2022 “Development of a Training Program for Human Research Protection”. She is currently Chairing the Technical Committee that is developing an NSC on Data Governance (CAN/HRSO-300.03 / CIOSC-100.10-2023).
Colleen also holds an appointment with Human Research Accreditation (HRA) Canada as a Site Reviewer.
