Thanks to the Digitization Teams
The Saskatchewan News Index has been digitized and put online by several project teams and many people who assisted in the development  The print indexes were indexed over several years.  Here are the seven phases of its creation:
Phase One:

The Project was initiated in 1992 by Darlene Fichter of the University of Saskatchewan Libraries. In the initial phase, article citations from the Saskatoon Star Phoenix, the Regina Leader Post and the Western Pro ducer were released to the University of Saskatchewan Libraries and made available on the Internet.

David Fox, Bill Hudgins and Victor Wiebe from the University of Saskatchewan Libraries assisted with the load of the records. The 'proof of concept' digit ization of the first print volume was done by Tammy Moskol. The successful conversion of the 1987 print volume of the Star Phoenix set the stage for future digital projects.

Phase Two:

Produced at the University of Saskatchewan Libraries, Education Library. July - August, 1996 by Dominique Berthiaume (Project Manager), Michelle Bittner (Multi-Media Assistant), Lance Hill (Programmer), Brent Knezacek, Michelle Stonehouse and Natasha Stonehouse (Junior Multimedia Assistants).
