- Learning Communities
- Available for AgBio and Kin students. A Learning Community (LC) is a small group of students who are invested in their academic success, share a common course schedule, and attend an LC hour each week facilitated by an experienced student peer mentor.
- Structured Study Sessions (SSS)
- Students in Bio 120, Chem 112 or Physics 115/117 may attend one of the regularly scheduled study sessions for their class where experienced peer mentors help students review, practice and master course material.
- INTS 380
- Apply for INTS 380.3, Internship in Librarianship and Information Studies, to learn more about academic libraries while gaining work experience and earning course credit. The course is offered in the winter term. Applications open in June.
For everyone
- Across the Disciplines
- Stay informed and engaged in current world issues by attending one of our multidisciplinary panels featuring local researchers, academics and experts from different fields to hear how their disciplines approach these topics.
- Creative Write-Ins
- Join other writers in the library to work on your creative writing projects. Discuss your project and hear from professional writers in the community.
- Virtual Write-Ins
- Virtual write-in sessions are open to graduate and undergraduate students and are structured using the Pomodoro technique to help you focus your attention.
Volunteer
Become a peer mentor: By volunteering in the Peer-Assisted Learning program you will help other students in their academic journey.
Literacies in Community is an opportunity to volunteer in a community service-learning program where you will develop new skills while gaining a rich experience providing literacy support to local elementary school children as a reading guide with Foundations Learning’s Spark program.
University of Saskatchewan Undergraduate Research Journal (USURJ) Student editors gain skills and experience in scholarly publishing by volunteering with USURJ, an open access, peer-reviewed scholarly journal featuring original artwork and scholarly articles by USask undergraduate students. This opportunity provides hands-on experience in the publishing process, strengthens editing and proofreading skills, and offers networking opportunities with faculty and peers. Peer Mentor positions are gifted a small honoraria, and all volunteer opportunities offer a designation on your student co-curricular record upon completion of the program.
Tutor
The library employs student tutors to assist other students with writing and math help. You can also register to work as a self-employed subject tutor by joining the library facilitated USask Tutoring Network.
Math and stats tutors
Become a math and stats tutor and help your fellow students online and/or face-to-face in the Math Help Centre. Tutors work with diverse groups of students at varying levels of skill and ability.
Writing tutors
Become a writing tutor and help your fellow students online and/or face-to-face at the Writing Centre. Writing tutors work with diverse groups of students from across the disciplines and at varying levels of skill and ability.
Subject tutors
If you are a current student or recent USask alumni looking for an opportunity to earn some extra money and help USask students, consider becoming a self-employed subject tutor.
