Dr. Wilfred Keller B.S., Ph.D.

Today on behalf of the University of Saskatchewan I am very pleased to introduce you to a truly exceptional leader, researcher, and teacher. Dr. Wilf Keller is a global leader in agricultural biotechnology research, management, and promotion. He spent five decades contributing to the field of crop development and leading trailblazing research endeavors. These include the application of genomics in Canola breeding that contributed the crop a made-in-Canada success story. Dr.

James Les Henry B.S., M.A.

Eminent Chancellor, on behalf of the senate I present to you James Les Henry. Les is an award winning soil scientist who has enjoyed a career as a pioneering agriculture researcher and extension specialist. Who brought research to the farm gate. He is a proud alumnus of the College of Agriculture and Bio-resources where he earned both his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and his Masters in soil science.

Brad Wildeman

Raised on a farm near Lanigan, Sask., Brad Wildeman is president and chairman of Pound-Maker Agventures Ltd., and a former chair of VIDO-InterVac at the University of Saskatchewan. Wildeman has been involved in several industry associations, including serving as past president of the Canadian Cattlemen's Association, and Canada Beef as well as working with international trade advisory committees. He has been awarded the Governor's General Award and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal, and the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal.

Ronald DePauw

Dr. DePauw, a Saskatchewan native, is an outstanding citizen of the province, of Canada and the world. His contributions to the wheat industry of Canada are unparalleled. He has developed over 50 varieties for several classes of spring wheat for Canada. Because of the demanding requirements for quality in Canadian wheats, this is one of the most difficult crops to breed. His varieties have been extremely well received by prairie farmers, typically occupying more than 50 per cent of the seeded acreage.

William J. Doyle

William J. Doyle is president and chief executive officer of Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PotashCorp) the world’s largest fertilizer company. He assumed his current duties on July 1, 1999 after 12 years as a key member of the PotashCorp senior management team. He has served on the board of directors since the company was first listed on the Toronto and New York stock exchanges in 1989.

Dr. Michael Shaw Ph.D.

Dr. Michael Shaw, Professor Emeritus of the University of British Columbia, is a distinguished plant physiologist who enjoys an international reputation for his authoritative research on the physiology and biochemistry of host-parasite relationships. In particular, he has directed his efforts to the cell and molecular biology of this interaction in rust fungi, obligate parasites that infect several economically important crop plants.

William Harold Horner BSA, MSc

Mr. Chancellor, on behalf of the Council and Senate, I present to you Mr. William Harold Horner.
Few people in the history of Saskatchewan have influenced its development more than Harold Horner. He devoted his whole professional career to the public service in his native province. For over a quarter of a century, he held key posts with the government of Saskatchewan and throughout his career he remained a staunch and loyal friend of the College of Agriculture.

Joo Ho Kim

EMINENT CHANCELLOR, On behalf of the Council and Senate, I present to you Joo Ho Kim.
Joo Ho Kim has spent a lifetime working for the benefit of the citizens of his country, mainly through the promotion and development of Korean agriculture. His government service includes being Governor of two different provinces in Korea, and Mayor of Pusan, the second-largest city in Korea. He has also served as Korea's Minister of Agriculture during the late 1980's and participated in developing the role of the United Nations Food and Agriculture organization.
