The image of a country: Canada's flag debate is a digital exhibition detailing the history of the adoption of the Canadian maple leaf flag in 1965. The site features scans of numerous submitted designs for the Canadian flag as well as editorial cartoons related to the flag debate.

The exhibit was curated by Cheryl Avery and completed in 2003. It features materials from the Diefenbaker archival collections which are managed by University Archives and Special Collections.
