Golden Cockerel Press: 1920-1959

Showcase of books from the Golden Cockerel Press from the University of Saskatchewan Library collection.

At the beginning of the 20th century there was renewed interest in the printed book as art form. In 1920, the Golden Cockerel Press was established to publish new books by young authors. They used woodcut engravings to create beautifully printed editions.

This site contains a listing of the books in the University Library's catalogue as well as historical information about the press.

The exhibit was curated by Jon Bath and Craig Harkema in 2008.

The site was archived in 2020. It is not being updated and is not formatted for mobile browsers.
