Murray Library, Rm. 301 : University Archives and Special Collections Reading Room

On December 10th, you are invited to join us in the reading room of the University Archives and Special Collections to observe the presentation of a commemorative history of the First World War to the Dean of Libraries, Vicki Williamson. The book, entitled Book of remembrance : First World War 1914-1918 - City of Saskatoon and the University of Saskatchewan, to those who gave their lives was the result of a joint effort between the Military Institute of Saskatoon, the Book of Remembrance Committee, Murray Scharf, Larry Wong, doug Penner, and Don Breher. The history was also written in partnership with the Royal Canadian Legion, Saskatchewan Command; Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 63; the Commissionaires, North Saskatchewan Division; Last Post Fund, Saskatchewan Branch and the Poppy Fund, Saskatoon.

It is a significant text, paying individual tribute to Canadians from the City of Saskatoon and The University of Saskatchewan who gave their lives for freedom in The First World War. The University of Saskatchewan University Archives and Special Collections was happy to have had the opportunity to help in the researching of this project. Both Professor Emeritus Murray Scharf and military expert, Lieutenant Colonel Larry Wong will be in attendence to make the presentation.
