UASC recieves donation of the Western Producer

Earlier in 2024 the entire back catalogue of the Western Producer newspaper was donated to the University Archives and Special Collections.

Earlier in 2024 the publisher of the Western Producer donated their library of back issues to the University of Saskatchewan's Archives and Special Collections. This means that the entire run of the Western Producer is now available to view in the UASC reading room upon request. As new volumes are published they will be added to the collection.

The Western Producer was first published as The Progressive in 1923 and changed its name to The Western Producer in 1924. It provides a record of agricultural history in the Western Provinces, as well as snap shots into prairie life - for example, an article on the worlds largest perogy (issue published December 16, 1976).

In order to view these volumes please contact the Universty Archives and Special Collections to make an appointment.

You can see the Western Producer's announcement about this donation on their website.
