Abstract:
In March 1972 three American pilots, three Thai pilots and four Lao pilots were sighted in Sam Neua Province, Laos. The American pilots were incarcerated in the Tham (cave) Keo at VH 1857 and the Thai and Lao pilots were incarcerated in a cave at VH 2158. The American pilots were well fed and appeared to be in good health. They were provided with reading material and a guitar for their leisure time. A Neo Lao Hak Sat propagandist presented periodic political indoctrinations to the Americans. The cave in which the Americans were kept was small and appeared comfortable as it had a few amenities such as electricity and basic furniture. One of the American pilots reportedly was captured in 1969 and the other two were captured during 1971. The Thai and Lao pilots were captured during 1969.
