Abstract:
Former Information Minister Ton That Thien arrived in Paris on 12 January 1969. Thien has the title of Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tran Van Huong for "show business" (Van Nghe) and says that he has come to paris to make arrangements for two South Vietnamese operetta troupes that are expected to arrive in late January. There are already rumors circulating within the Vietnamese Mission that Thien's actual job will be to replace both Nguyen Trieu Dan as South Vietnamese Delegation Press Spokeman and Linh as Had of the Information Section of the Delegation. However, Linh discounts this rumor as untrue and believes that Thien's visit is merely a junket offered to him as a sop for his recent removal as Information Minister.
