Abstract:
At a meeting in the office of Prime Minister Nguyen Cao Ky on 17 April, one of the senior military officers presented information that the French will support a civilian candidate for president of South Vietnam in the hope of getting a weak man in that office who can be maneuvered toward a neutralization policy which President Charles de Gaulle has long favored.
