Welcome to the New Library Website

Discover some of the new and improved parts of our site.

One of our major goals for the library website redesign was to make sure we kept the parts of the site that people really liked and were accustomed to while improving and adding new features to make the site more useful. There is a lot to see on the new site, but some of the changes we are the most proud of are:

  • Across the site you will find less library jargon (what is ILL? DDLS? a discovery layer?) and more descriptions in plain english.
  • The new hours and the hours for today on the homepage that shows all seven of our locations so, for example, if your favourite library is closed on Sundays you can easily see which other locations are open. Everyone is welcome to use any of our library location.
  • There is a new borrower info section in your library account  that lists your account type, borrowing privileges, and access to electronic resources and interlibrary loan.
  • Check out the improved “What’s New” page that shows what has been added to our shelves in the past two weeks, browse-able by library location or your preferred call number sections/subjects.
  • USearch (the main search box) had a major update that has improved the way search results are displayed (you can compare it to the old version here). To go with this update, we also developed a Library Search Tools page to help you understand how the different ways we have to search the library work and which tools are best for different kinds of research and subjects.
  • The Computers and IT Help page has a bunch of new features including a real-time dashboard that shows computers availability in all of our libraries (including laptops to borrow), a list of alumni and public access computers, available software, and a live system status tool so you can check if a technical issue is system-wide, or unique to your computer before contacting IT help.

These are just a handful of the new things we have added to the library site and we hope these changes have improved your experience using the library online. We want this website to work for you, the way you do your research and look for information.

We want to continue to hear from you as you get a chance to use the new site. Please let us know what you think. If you find a broken link, a spelling mistake, or something that looks wrong, we want to hear that too. Report an error and we will fix it ASAP.
